GREASE UNIEL EP

Summary: This is a lithium antifriction lubricant, designed for lubricating of ball and roller bearings, joints and other friction mechanisms and machine structures operating at high pressures. It is characterized by its high dropping point temperature, high shear strength and good oxidative stability due to the use of antioxidants. Operating temperature from -30°C to +120°C. Shelf life - 5 years. Manufactured with penetration NLGI 1, 2 and 3 in packages of 0.4; 0.8; 3; 9; 15 kg and 180 kg drum.

Appearance and composition

Miscibility with other greases.

The lithium grease Unel EP (with the name Litea according to BDS 16507-86) is manufactured of base lithium grease, composed of medium viscosity mineral oil SN 600 and lithium soap of 12-hydroxistearic acid. To them are added EP (extreme pressure), antiwear, antioxidant and polymer additives, which reduce the wear of friction surfaces, prolonging the life of grease and improving its colloidal stability, plasticity, adhesion and its water resistance.

Product Benefits

Lubricants, which have improved tribological characteristics, take a separate place in the general classification. Sometimes these properties are typical for the base lubricants, in other cases they are achieved by introducing of additives. Increasing of characteristics of lithium greases is performed by additives. The goal is to increase the durability of driving mechanisms, to reduce the friction coefficient of contact surfaces, to prevent seizure and mechanical and corrosion wear. Additives, extending the features of the lithium grease at high loads are called EP (from Extreme Pressure) and it should be highlighted that the main component thereof is a chemically bonded sulfur. Not every compound, containing sulfur in itself, plays such a role. EP additives are often basically different. Some users believe that EP lubricants must have a characteristic sulfur-like smell, familiar from some reductor oils in the past, but it is not so. Regarding the effect of the EP-additives it is important to know that they lead to slightly mechano-chemical polishing of the friction surfaces. However, they increase the strength of the lubricating film. In such a case they optimize the wear, consisting now of two components - purely mechanical and mechano-chemical one. When this is undesirable, other additives are used (e.g. in the axle grease). The metal to metal contact between the heavily loaded machine parts, working at high-speed, often leads to the welding of microscopic areas of the contact surface. Rupture of such welded micro areas makes the surface rougher and increases the heat generation, resulting in the growing of this process and in possible welding of the parts. The damage of the metal surface as a result of friction process, after starting of the formation of such welded spots, could be greater or less, depending on the ability of the lubricant to contribute to a rapid polishing of the damaged area. The feature of the lubricant to minimize the wear, caused by the described spot welding, is different from the ability to increase the Weld Point load when tested on Four-Ball Extreme Pressure Test Machine. This provides guidance for further development. Lithium EP greases provide a more uniform distribution of the load, reducing the contact temperature, precluding intensive wear of the details, stabilize and reduce friction, eliminating the saltatory nature of this process.

Product Usage

Uniel EP has broader application than шге universal lithium grease UNIEL, by replacing it completely. It withstands heavier loads than the second. It is widely used in industry and vehicles, agriculture and households. Often this EP grease is used in cases, in which the universal one could be used too. The reason for such decision is that the difference in price between the two is not big, but the EP greases fully cover the applications of the universal one. Thus, users optimize their inventory and reduce the risk of errors.
Operating temperature from -20°C to 120 (130)°C.
Storage and transportation: According to the Safety Rules for mineral oils and the rules for environmental protection. A product should be stored indoors, protected from direct sunlight and moisture.
Shelf life in original container under the recommended conditions: 5 years.
Recommended storage temperature: from -5°C to + 40°C.
